Software

Operating System

  • The CTL workshop room contains 12 PC computers running Windows 2000. All of the machines have the below software installed on them unless otherwise noted.
  • The CTL has a pod area containing 10 Macintosh computers running Windows 2000 or Macintosh OSX. The software on the pod area computers may vary slightly from the below list.
  • The CTL has multimedia machines that contain specialized software and hardware capabilities that can be used to edit and create audio / video / multimedia of all types. These computers are located within the multimedia room in the CTL.

Microsoft Products

  • Office 2003 - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage.
  • Office 2007 - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Frontpage.

Note: The Microsoft Office software is available for MCC faculty and staff computers under a campus licensing agreement, contact the helpdesk (480-461-7217) for current licensing information. It is only available on campus owned computers. Microsoft software can be purchased at a discount through the Employeee Purchase Program: https://doforms.riosalado.edu/

Web Software

  • Flash MX 2004 - create animations and interactive projects for the web
  • Fireworks MX 2004 - create and edit images for the web
  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 - create and manage your web pages
  • Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firebox - browse the internet
  • Real Player, Windows Media Player, QuickTime Player - use these free plug-ins to view audio/video on the internet
  • Breeze - PowerPoint plug-in used to add audio to a PowerPoint presentation, then convert and compress the presentation for the internet (PC only)
  • Respondus 3.5 Campuswide - create tests and quizzes to print or to use and have automatically graded within WebCT (PC only)
  • StudyMate 2.0 Campuswide - create games and exercises that can be used by students to self-test and study online (PC only)
  • Adobe Acrobat 6.0 - create PDF files from any document (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) for easy viewing on the internet

Multimedia Software & Plug-ins

  • FireworksMX 2004 - edit photos and images
  • Real Player, Windows Media Player, QuickTime Player - use these free plug-ins to view audio/video on the internet
  • Audacity - free audio recording software, record your voice and save it as a .wav or .mp3 file
  • PureVoice - free audio recording software, record your voice and save it as a PureVoice file (PC only)
  • CD and DVD creation software
  • Adobe Premiere - edit digital videos - only available in the multimedia room
  • Adobe CS - the latest version of the Adobe Suite containing Photoshop
  • Ulead VideoStudio 9 - available in the multimedia room
  • Camtasia - create movie 'demonstrations' from recordings of onscreen activities - only available on the Multimedia PC - available in the multimedia room
  • Macromedia Captivate - create movie 'demonstrations' from recordings of onscreen activities, add interactivity if desired
  • Sorensen Squeeze - compress videos and movies for efficient internet viewing - available in the multimedia room
  • Sony Vegas - edit digital videos - available in the multimedia room
