 PRACTICE WITH WebCT

Faculty were given more practice using WebCT. They learned how to add a URL to the WebLinks tool, put a column in the gradebook, post a discussion and make it available for peer review, create a grading form (sample rubrics were provided), use WebCT mail, set up groups using the Grup Manager tool, use the Chat tool, and use the selective release feature. A handout was given with the link for including the MCC District Legal Disclaimer on your web page (per the chancellor's directive).

 LIBRARY RESOURCES

Janell gave the group a workshop on how to access the online library electronic resources. Full text journal articles as well as encyclopedias and text chapters are available. Students can download the eBrary reader for free (needed for off campus computer access). Instructors and students can create their own bookshelves, where they can put the articles/books they want to access. They can bookmark pages, highlight sections, and create citations for their work. Janell recommends contacting Marlene Forney (mforney@mail.mc.maricopa.edu) or Lorna Peralta (lorper@mail.mc.maricopa.edu) if you have any questions about how to use this rich resource.

 NEXT WEEK

Melanie Kroening will giving us a workshop on using Breeze. Breeze will compress Powerpoint presentations for uploading to the web. You can also record audio files to accompany your Powerpoint slides and save them in Breeze. If you have a small Powerpoint presentation (only a few slides and without many graphics), feel free to bring it to work on. Otherwise, Melanie will provide a sample Powerpoint presentation with which to practice.

Reminder: Schedule an appointment to meet with Peggy and show her your template (e.g. one week's lesson) by March 22.
