FPLC Template Instructions

Below are some basic instructions for using the FPLC templates created for CTLpedia. For help editing your page, see the Help page accessible from the Help navigation link on the left.

Before you begin, you may ask why we are doing this. The first reason is that you can get more out of an experience by reflecting on what you are doing and learning, so the CTLpedia pages are first to motivate you to reflect on your FPLC experience. Second, the FPLC program is very concerned with outcomes. Because we tout ourselves as a program that can increase faculty and staff engagement in making our college more learner centered, we count on your semi-public reflections to document the changes in practice associated with the program.

Here are some instructions for what to do the first time you login to the CTLpedia.

  1. Login with MCC username and pwd=nothing (nothing is the default pwd that all accounts were created with)
  2. Click My preferences at the very top of the page
    1. change password to MCC password
    2. enter full name
    3. enter email
    4. Save
  3. Navigate to Main page with link at top of left side
  4. Create your page
    1. Type in search box FPLCtopic FPLC Lastname year (e.g. Sustainability FPLC Costello 2007-8)
    2. Click Go (not search)
    3. You will see that the file was not found, but you will get an option to create a new page (link in text)
    4. Click the link: create this page.
    5. Click Edit at the top of the page
    6. Enter at least one word and SAVE (if you don't enter something, the page will not persist)
    7. Click the FPLC link on the left side
    8. Click the FPLC template
    9. Click edit
    10. Copy all the text in the window (the window will scroll so you can get everything to the bottom of the page).
    11. Click Back 4 times to get back to the page you created.
    12. Click Edit and paste template into your page.
    13. Save your page.
  5. Edit content
    1. Edit only the top section with the edit tab at the top of the page. Enter your name, etc and replace XYZ with your FPLC topic.
    2. Save your page.
    3. Edit the lower sections with the Edit buttons at the top right of each section replacing the XYZ with your FPLC, etc.
    4. Save your page after editing each section.
    5. Carefully edit the category lines at the bottom of the last section, so they are like the ones below, but with your FPLC listed.
    6. If your FPLC topic has spaces, replace them with underscores in the category lines (e.g., Online Learning will be Online_Learning).
    7. Save the page

Now you should be able to find your page in the index when you click the FPLC category in the left panel, and you should find your page on the page that opens when you click your FPLC in the index at the top of index.
