Project Goals
- To lead a campus wide focus on a specific pedagogical topic for a semester.
- To keep up a sustained discussion of a specific pedagogical topic during a semester.
- To demonstrate the implementation of specific pedagogical topic during CTL events.
Project Components
- Topic for the semester
- Three different readings related to the topic to discuss during three months of the semester.
- Packet to share with CTL staff on how/why to work into CTL discussions and activities.
- Invitation to departments, organizations, and other groups to share material about the topic.
Relation to CTL Department Plan Initiatives
The "Focus On" project supports the CTL's 2007-2008 Scholarly Teaching and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning initiative.

Project Timeline

Current Status
- Fall 2007 - rolling out the pilot semester, including a CAT at the Fall Convocation, packets to the CTL event facilitators, and events in the CTL calendar.
Future Directions
- Need to identify a Spring 2008 topic.

Project Outcomes
After the semester, faculty and staff at MCC should be able to:
- define the Focus On topic for the semester, and
- incorporate the Focus On topic into their classes or other work processes.
