Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
2006-7 #1 New CTL Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) Program -- Effective SOTL requires enhancing the scholarly resources available, the opportunities for scholarly collaboration, and the support for research design, for grants development, for qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and for scholarly communication. This program will embrace collaborative models to develop and sustain SOTL including the use of faculty learning communities to research educational issues and evaluate intervention strategies and inter-institutional connections to improve access to scholarly resources.

Online Learning at MCC
2006-7 #2 Expanded CTL Support for Online Learning at MCC -- The CTL in collaboration with ITS plays a huge role in the integration of diverse technologies to develop and support the seamless environment necessary for virtual learning. Effective and secure implementation and support of mission critical couse management system software/hardware requires a rapid transition from part-time to full-time technology support personnel. Additional persnnel is necessary to support expanding online learning without jeopardizing the support and devlopment of other effective and appropriate instructional technologies.

CTL Remote Support
2006-7 #3 New CTL Remote Support Initiative -- The growth of MCC at multiple campuses (including the developing downtown campus) and remote sites necessitates a plan to provided needed CTL support. Provinding this support to faculty and staff at a distance from the CTL requires innovative use of new technologies and new models for some situations.

Faculty Learning Program
2006-7 #4 New CTL Faculty Learning Program -- Comprehensive professional development of new and veteran faculty requires inclusion of adjunct faculty, coordination with independent efforts (e.g., Kaleidoscope, SOC/ROC, and International Education), and implementation of some new models for faculty learning driven by strategic goals and student outcomes. This program will employ the faculty learning community model to orient new faculty in cohort-based groups and veteran faculty in goal-based teams.

2006-7 #5 New Comprehensive Staff Learning Program -- Realizing the goal of MCC as a learning institution requires a new employee orientation and increased opportunities for veteran staff learning.

Innovative Instructional Technologies
2006-7 #6 CTL Innovative Instructional Technologies Program -- To provide effective support for teaching and learning with technology, CTL staff must explore, develop and experiment with promising new instructional technologies that have potential to enhance teaching and learning. These activities will allow us to recommend and support appropriate technologies to promote learning outcomes.
