Project Goals

  • Provide software for online display of projects to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Evaluate and implement KEEP Toolkit for the development of online posters.
  • Support faculty use of the KEEP Toolkit.

Relation to CTL Department Plan Initiatives

  • 2006-7 #6 CTL Innovative Instructional Technologies Program -- To provide effective support for teaching and learning with technology, CTL staff must explore, develop and experiment with promising new instructional technologies that have potential to enhance teaching and learning. These activities will allow us to recommend and support appropriate technologies to promote learning outcomes.
  • 2007-8 #1 Evaluate, promote, and support innovative and appropriate use of new instructional and multimedia technologies (especially those that integrate with WebCT and MCC Online).

Project Staff

  • Martin Lehner did the initial CmapTools server installation and currently updates and maintains the KEEP Toolkit server.
  • Brad Kincaid conducts workshops for faculty on using the KEEP Toolkit.

Project Timeline

  • Project was initiated in Spring 2006 with a request from Brad Kincaid to have a way for faculty projects to be displayed.
  • Kincaid promoted the use of KEEP for faculty projects by giving demonstrations and support to such groups as Kaleidoscope, New Faculty Experience and the Faculty and Professional Learning Communities. However, it was eventually decided that the CTLpedia would be used to document CTL scholarship.
  • First KEEP Toolkit workshop was offered by CTL in spring, 2007 focusing on its use with students.
  • Evaluations are currently underway to determine if this tool sufficiently useful for display of student projects to keep supporting it.

Project Resources

  • Staff time has been required to install and maintain the KEEP Toolkit server since spring, 2006.
  • Staff time has been require to develop and deliver the KEEP Toolkit demonstrations and workshops.
  • KEEP Toolkit server software is freely available to educational institutions.
  • Sever space has been required for KEEP Toolkit installation.

Project Outcomes and Future Directions

  • Kincaid conducted a workshop demonstrating the potential of the KEEp Toolkit for student posters including peer review and archiving.
  • CTL is evaluting the demand for the KEEP Toolkit as a teaching and learning tool.
