MacPod Initiative
From CTLpedia
Project Summary: Replace the CTL pod computers with intel-based macintosh workstations running OSX and windows.
Contents |
Project Description
With all the changes going on in the computing industry, especially with windows vista coming out, the CTL has decided to migrate all the pod workstation computers to a macintosh-based system. The computers will provide a greater degree of customizability and capability. Not only will the change allow for a more flexible user experience, it will improve the ability of CTL system administrators to manage and update the machines. Another major benefit of the change is the ability for faculty and staff to explore the differences between windows, mac osx, and even other operating systems like linux and unix in a sandboxed environment.
