A Statement on Teaching
My art and design students are challenged to become active, critically informed interrogators of the media-saturated culture in which they are immersed. Additionally, they should understand the importance of their own roles as content producers within this culture, and realize that they have the potential to change it.
My project-based curriculum encourages active, multi-modal learning, and stresses both conceptual and technical aspects of the art and design production process.
Ideally, students should leave my classes deepened by their exposure to art/media history and contemporary theory, skilled in the use of a variety of tools and techniques, and inspired by their own creative productions.

I plan to continue a high level of involvement with my department and to contribute to the evolution of the digital media program. I will play an active roll in the promotion and development of a new gallery/museum space on campus. I also would like to increase my participation in a variety of campus and district-wide programs. Additionally, I plan to further integrate my students' learning experiences into the broader community via service learning.
