Teaching
During Fall 2008, I was adjunct faculty and therefore didn't participate in NFE. I received an OSO appointment for Spring 2009, so I participated in the second half of this year's NFE. For this reason, I don't have as much exposure to the program. In addition, I've been both a student and adjunct faculty here for quite a while, so there was much less novelty and exploration than for some.

Professional Development Activities 2008-9
LIST/DESCRIBE VARIOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES YOU PARTICIPATED IN 2008-9.
In the fall of 2008, I participated in the Active Learning FPLC. It was an excellent experience. I was able to experience the collegiality reported by many past FPLC participants, but was also able to take away many valuable classroom tips -- such as incorporating active learning techniques into BPC 110 (Computer Usage and Applications), a class that's so individualistic and computer-oriented that I despaired of ever using active learning. I gained several new friends with whom I'm still in contact. I was very disappointed that we weren't able to continue this FPLC experience.

DESCRIBE WHAT YOU WANT TO FOCUS ON NEXT YEAR
This summer, I plan to spend a significant amount of time working with multimedia applications as I learn the art of video production -- all the way from pre-production to post-production. I believe this will round out the capabilities I can offer the department, as I'm already quite strong in everything else we teach in BPC/CIS.

Understanding of MCC Culture Gained through NFE
My OSO appointment has been great and immersed me in the culture and personalities of my own department. My admittedly-abbreviated experience with NFE then allowed me to gain valuable insight into the perspectives of faculty in other departments.

Reflection on My Future as a Member of the MCC Community
I certainly hope there is one! I'm honored to have been appointed as an OSO this semester. I hope to be given the opportunity to serve the students here in a full-time capacity.
