Project Summary: Softsense is a software license key and installation instruction manager. It keeps track of the number of users that download a particular piece of software so we can track the number of license keys we've used. It also just holds some software instructions and keys behind password protection because of legal restrictions.

Project Goals

  • Track the use of software licenses.
  • Keep certain software under username/password so only college employees can access it (due to legal restrictions).

Current Status

Softsense was completed in 2004 and only receives bug fixes and minor changes.

Relation to CTL Department Plan Initiatives

Project Staff

Project Timeline

  • In late 2006 softsense received a "reskinning" by James Bowles along with the other CTL inhouse tools.
  • Softsense is completed and running within a week.
  • A need for license tracking causes the ctl to start work on softsense. A quick solution was needed at the time.
